Nightmare Brunette just posted a wonderful topic up on her blog about pubic hair and the stigma that the lack of it portrays a female as being pre-pubescent.

As an person who worked in the porn industry, pubic hair was always marketed as something that defined a performers age. The more hair you had down there, the older you would be in the film. For example, Girl A is in a school girl outfit and has a complete lack of pubic hair while the “step dad” who is fucking her would have a huge bush. The contrast in pubic hair seemed to solidify the age difference between the two performers as much as the set and outfits worn in the film.

I like pubic hair on women. More to the point, I like myself having pubic hair. I don’t mean you need to have a jungle bush to get me excited. However, a well manicured nether region is just another sign that you take care of yourself as a person. Probably just as much as working out or eating healthy portrays the same thing.

Since porn is so often credited with kicking off the fervor for female shaving, it might be helpful to recognize that shaved pussy in porn relates to visibility issues, not infantilization of all performers.
